Workshop on STEM Subjects, Gymnasium "Slobodan Skerovic" in Podgorica, Montenegro
The promotion of the Open Day of the University of Montenegro, held in the classrooms of the Gymnasium “Slobodan Škerović” in Podgorica, served as an opportunity to conduct a workshop titled Workshop on STEM Subjects.
The session was led by Mr. Matija Zejak, MSc, teaching associate at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Ms. Marija Došljak, MSc, teaching associate at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, as well as Mina Grbović, MSc, teaching associate at the Faculty of Civil Engineering. Special emphasis was placed on the importance of STEM fields for female high school students, as well as on the opportunities for professional development in these disciplines.
Additional value to the session was provided by Ana Zdravkov from the Centre for International Cooperation and Career Development, who introduced the students to opportunities for further academic and professional development. Special focus was placed on the importance of encouraging girls to pursue studies in STEM fields, given the current shortage of female professionals in these occupations.
The main objective of the session was to raise awareness about the importance of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, as well as to encourage female students to consider STEM as their future academic and professional path. Students were also introduced to opportunities offered by international educational programmes such as Erasmus+, which provide student exchanges, scholarships, and participation in international projects.
A total of 43 students attended the session.
